This is a key role within Thought Machine, that enables us to deliver value by understanding clients needs and requirements, delivering Vault as a solution to meet their needs. The Business Analyst will work closely with our Client, Engineering and Technical Analysts to consult on best practices for usage and integrations to the product.

The Business Analyst will provide client-facing expertise in our core product Vault, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of the product. This facilitates the process of identifying requirements that will be delivered as part of our core product, and managing implementation with our Clients.


  • Engage with Clients on a regular basis and facilitate project engagement
  • Work directly with Clients to elicit business requirements, with a view of their objectives
  • Support and oversee Client issues and queries
  • Collaborate closely with Client Delivery Managers, Product team, Technical Analysts and Engineering
  • Contribute to the design and development process, advocating for client requirements and needs
  • Track and maintain requirements captured as part of the Backlog process
  • Produce specifications that solve complex Client requirements, guiding client teams through design and implementation
  • Identify product gaps and feature requests, representing these in the product feature request process
  • Actively participate in and drive priorities against scope, identifying the highest value deliverables to achieve the Client’s requirements
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and feedback between the Client and product development
  • Alongside the Client Delivery Manager, track activities within agreed release plans, proactively collaborating internally to remove any blockers
  • Facilitate planning and communication on sprints, internally and externally
  • Own requirements and acceptance criteria for testing, ensuring deliverables are of a high quality and satisfy client’s needs



  • Excellent analytical approach and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Desire and ability to learn and work with Technical Analysts and Engineers to develop core product knowledge
  • Experience in analysis roles; requirements elicitation and analysis, artefact creation (specifications, interaction and process diagrams) and solution consulting
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex products and software to a wide range of audiences
  • Understanding of systems architecture and modern integration methodologies and APIs


  • Knowledge of banking and systems
  • Experience in delivering complex software/technology projects
  • Experience of delivering software/technology projects into enterprise environments (a plus if into financial institutions)
  • Understanding of a range of banking functions (for example: core banking, payments, financial engineering, accounting, reporting, compliance, operations, etc.), and/or financial products, end-to-end, at least at a high level
  • Experience with or understanding of the principles of agile methodologies
  • Experience working directly with software engineering or product development teams
  • Experience operating in an engineering-driven product company, platform or B2B software vendor, or environments focussed on developing and delivering back-end technologies/software
  • We find that having the following technical skills (or appetite to learn) can be beneficial in this role:
    • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and how software is built
    • Experience working with and understanding of APIs to deliver integrated software and services
    • Ability to understand and illustrate functional architectures and interaction diagrams for software systems
    • Ability to read or write code
